AI-Assisted Research and Drafting

Copilot and I did a deep dive to diagnose and repair a defunct desktop PC. I'm cautious to over-rely on AI, but it can be invaluable when applied correctly.
Experience
Freelance Copywriter & Content Manager
2019 – Current
I’ve been doing freelance work on-and-off since late 2019. In that time, I’ve worked with seriously awesome individuals, teams, and companies. Together we've launched new products, built websites from scratch, revamped existing material, and much more. I sincerely enjoy connecting with clients and customers and producing sharp writing that has genuine impact. (Bonus points when they have a style guide.)
I am currently working with Wolfeez and Home Range Brewing. Previous clients include WGU Labs, Discover Alta, Very Possible, True North Coaching, O'Hail Shaved Ice, a smattering of Kickstarter campaigns, and others.
Content Manager
ControlByWeb
2023 – 2025
As the content manager at ControlByWeb, it was my responsibility to oversee the timeline of content creation from brainstorming to publishing and post-analysis. This included project management involving our marketing manager, technical writer, web developers, and other members of the team.
I also researched the IIoT (industrial Internet of Things), identified key players and SEO/AEO analytics, and hosted brainstorms to develop content plans. I interviewed customers and industry experts for case studies. I also created PR packets for company announcements and performed outreach to publish our work.
In terms of content creation, I wrote articles and web content; maintained the company newsletter; created social media posts and engaged with our online audience; edited support articles, ads, and other content; and created supporting graphics for all the above.
Senior Marketing Copywriter
The Art of Education University
2022 – 2023
The Art of Education University (AOEU) is a fully remote organization supporting art teachers around the world. I had the privilege of serving as the senior copywriter in the marketing department, contributing my skills before an unfortunate round of layoffs resulted in the loss of my job. During my time at AOEU, I had the opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals across various departments, including design, sales, university admissions, customer service, events, and academics. This multidisciplinary collaboration allowed us to synergize our efforts and create impactful results.
My role encompassed crafting compelling communications for all of AOEU's offerings. This included the semi-annual NOW Conference, a master's degree program, a range of graduate courses, an engaging online magazine, and two innovative online platforms dedicated to providing valuable classroom resources and professional development opportunities for art educators. I undertook diverse tasks such as developing website landing pages, orchestrating successful email campaigns, creating visually appealing digital and print assets, composing informative magazine articles, and more.
The team was relatively small, which meant quick turnaround times and last-minute pivots, but also good energy from team members.
Senior Writer
USANA Health Sciences
2018 – 2022
I worked as a remote copywriter for USANA Health Sciences. As a member of the writing team, we were entrusted with a diverse range of projects across the company, collaborating with various stakeholders. Our writing spanned across different genres, from meticulous technical content with high-quality scientific references to delectable paleo-friendly recipes for the holidays. We also had the exciting opportunity to conduct high-energy athlete interviews and write engaging video scripts. The dynamic nature of the work ensured that there were rarely any dull moments in the process. In fact, I was even given the chance to assume additional leadership roles, and I embraced the responsibility of copyediting.
The environment nurtured my professional growth and provided a supportive space for me to thrive.
Ad Tech Account Manager
eBay Advertising (MarketStar)
2017
MarketStar had a trial contract with eBay Advertising to provide SAAS for new and existing accounts to purchase ad space on eBay's website. Our team maintained communications between a variety of internal and external groups, drafted and sent pitch decks and long-form emails, created stories out of data, and attended many online and in-person training opportunities.
Our communications with clients had a lot on the line—tens of thousands of dollars were at risk. Emails and pitch decks were subject to thorough review by managers and the best of the best in sales. I learned about client relations, selling, and business from this unique contract (and scored a sweet large-spend campaign before the end of it).
Education
BA in Professional and Technical Writing, Utah State University
Graduated 2016
During my time at USU, I was a member of the Society for Technical Communication and volunteered for the Gaming 4 Good charity campaigns in 2015 and 2016.
